Teaching World History
Without a doubt, my love in exploring the world formed due to my parents love for showing me the world. Whether driving down the street to a local historical building, hosting an exchange student, or road-tripping to national parks, learning how the past became the present intoxicates me. Unfortunately, my history classes were not as intoxicating - until I took a renaissance art history course in college. The professor's photos and stories about Bernini and Botticelli inspired me to student abroad in Italy, where the juxtaposition of the Classical and the present were unlike anything I'd ever seen. Upon return stateside I took a position teaching world history, through which I could share my excitement with students. My desire as a history teacher is to foster excitement about the world while helping students understand how today's world came into being.
This portfolio includes sophomore World History curriculum projects. I owe a big thank you to my professional network of history teachers for ongoing curriculum support. No matter how well designed, these projects would be nothing without the joy and enthusiasm each student brings to the table of learning. Each project example includes a description, project learning objectives, technology resources, assessments, student work artifacts, instructional artifacts, and a reflection.
