Instructional Design: Growth & Evaluation Process

Project Background
In efforts to improve transparency and increase trust between faculty and administration, I worked collaboratively for 2 years designing and developing the initial Faculty Growth and Renewal (GAR) process to replace the previous faculty evaluation system. The GAR process, based on Charlotte Danielson's work, utilizes a team approach with a contextualized observation of instructional practices to develop a personalized goal for each faculty member.  Following the goal development stages, the GAR team utilizes a log to gather evidence aligned to a standard indicator set in order to track progress on the goal. Faculty goals drive both personal and company-wide professional learning decisions.

The GAR process takes place every other year for faculty. In non-GAR years they participate in Faculty Inquiry Groups (FIGs) whereby small, collaborative groups tackle a question of inquiry aligned to one of the school's four themes: Data & Assessment, Instructional Design, Cultural Competence, and Authentic Engagement & Wellness.
